869 medicines including cancer medicines will be expensive: Know more about the medicines

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has increased the prices of 869 medicines for many other diseases including cancer. NPPA issued the notification and said that the price of these drugs has increased by 3.44 percent as per the revised revision based on the annual wholesale price index.

CDSCO's new intelligence cell to check illegal activity in India’s pharma sector

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), India’s central drug regulator, has set up a nine-member intelligence cell to track illegal activity in the country’s pharmaceutical sector. 

This includes gathering information on the medicines and cosmetics imported or exported against the law and investigating complaints related to medicine quality received from overseas regulatory agencies, according to an office order dated March 26. 

The intelligence cell will be in charge of collecting and collating information on activities carried out in contravention to the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, stated the order, which ET has seen.
