Private hospitals and clinics of the capital will no longer be able to recover arbitrarily expensive medicines from patients.
The Health Department of Delhi Government has submitted a report to the CM. The report clearly states that private hospitals and clinics have to stick to the actual purchase price of medicines on the walls. Upon receipt of sanction, the health department will issue notification and implement it.
Private hospitals and clinics will be able to sell medicines or consumer products in 30 or 40 per cent more than the purchase price. If a private hospital and clinic costs more than patients, then action will be taken. In order to make more profits, private hospitals and clinics often print wrong prices on the rapper of the drug. The actual purchase price of medicines will be given to Director General Health Services.
It has also been said in the report that on the basis of the prices of major diagnostic labs like Red Pathhelb, Nanda and SRL, the average price will be decided for all the checks. At the average price, all the private hospitals and clinics in Delhi will be able to check the patient. Director General Health Services (DGHS) Dr Kirti Bhushan said that the Health Department has not made this report alone.
